This SKS was well-packed in cosmoline inside and out, so the metal was well preserved. A couple of spots on the upper and BCG had some minor rust, about 4 spots less than a 1/4 inch in size each. As usual it was a bit of a process to remove the cosmoline, but that is normal. After I got it all cleaned and lubricated I took it out for a test. It shot 10 rounds flawlessly, probably for the first time in several decades. The wood has definitely seen some battle action, but there were no cracks or deep gouges. Overall I am very happy with this SKS, it is a lot of fun to shoot and is actually a good deer hunting rifle. I would recommend one of these to anyone, whether a beginner or a pro. And ukrguns, as always, has fast shipping, good communication and excellent customer service.

So far so good. I bought this in the winter so hopefully I can shoot it more soon

The SKS firearm is in great shape. I would buy another. Looks like numbers matching and came with everything except the cleaning kit in the butt-stock. The only gripe I have is the item was placed in a single thin wrap plastic and placed in a flimsy cardboard box. The box was received damaged with holes in it and crushed. The rifle flopped around in the box like a hotdog in a hallway. If I could make one suggestion, be kind to the buyers and take more care to wrap the product more securely to prevent the firearm or other items bought from damage. Because we know nobody cares about the product being shipped (except for the purchaser) or gives a… second thought about your item. Unfortunately, everyone has a FU attitude now-a-days. Thanks again ukrguns for your ability to import such a classic for others to enjoy, cheers!

Great rifles and price always at ukrguns. Thank you for your business

Bought this one and received it in good condition. Cleaned up the cosmoline and then reblued the barrell and sanded, Stained, and oiled the stock. Some surface rust and pitting which is to be expected. All numbers matched and I retained the battle cars after the restoration. Shot great and I am very satisfied.

I got this rifle expecting that it will be in decent shape due to where it came from but I got a little extra with the purchase lots of rust on the barrel piston rod chamber and trigger group. Now I am a little skeptical about shooting this rifle due to the rust around the barrel and parts of the trigger group.. Well just like the good old saying “you get what you pay for”.. This rifle will be taking up dead space in my gun safe
David R –
Great price but you really are taking a chance. Be ready to buy a new stock and spend some good time cleaning them. I order 2, one of them was in bad shape but got hear cleaned up and works like a champ. The other is in extremely bad shape and will need a new stock and a lot of time with elbow grease.
Dominick R –
Good condition rifle stock is a little beat up which I expected. Be ready to clean the mess out of this thing. It is caked with cosmoline everywhere.Matching parts as well. After a thorough cleaning I fired 20 rounds through it. Works great! love it so far. Thanks again ukrguns for the great rifle.

Pick up my sks this afternoon. All serial numbers matched including stock. There was no rust at all. Bore and chamber no pits no rust nothing… Excellent example…

This was my first purchase from ukrguns. I was fully aware it was going to be an old Chinese SKS covered in cosmoline and stored for who knows how long. When I picked up my purchase from my FFL I was happy to find that the gun looked to be in pretty good shape thru all of the gunk it was caked in. During the cosmoline removal I was pleasantly surprised to find all the parts had matching numbers except the stock which had no serial number to be found. The barrel rifling looked to be in incredible shape. The gun cleaned up very well and overall I am very happy with my purchase.
Jerrimie E –
Overall it was in decent shape. All numbers matched including the stock except the gas piston which is never seen unless broken down. Wood is very dirty and hopefully one-day I can get it halfway clean. Don’t want to replace or sand since the serial matches. Metal was in great condition, only rust was around the magazine and fire control grip under the wood. It was packed with cosmoline and took a while to clean. After a good cleansing took it to the range and ran 2 boxes thru it with no issues. You could see the grease sweating from the upper handguard from the heat. My friend said my serial number puts mine around 1969 which is cool. I wanted a Vietnam Era military issue Sks

Great project gun. Worth getting ukrguns warranty
Neal O –
Great numbers matching sks. Stock is a little worn as anticipated. Over all a great experience.
Christopher S –
Fast shipping, the gun was in decent condition given the age. Covered in cosmoline, but a mean green bath and a couple coats of stain later, it looks brand new. Great price too!
Asher A –
The rifle came in caked in cosmoline I expected this though and cleaning it only took a few hours and some elbow grease. The Rifle itself was in okay shape after I got it all cleaned up. The stock isn’t creaked there was a small piece of wood chipped off near the extractor but nothing I didn’t expect to see from a military surp like this. Took the rifle out shooting and out of the 40 rounds didnt have one issue and it felt pretty nice to shoot. I would recommand buying one of these if you want a fun military surp to go plink with.
Hec-jonill G –
Got a good one. The fact that it was literally packed in cosmoline preserved its components to an extent the rifling looks as it has never been fired though it has been used. Very light pitting nothing too serious. It’s very important to make sure the floating firing pin is cleaned to the point it can move freely to prevent slamfires. The wood had a couple of nicks and gouges but very stout overall and it cleaned up pretty nicely. Full matching numbers with visible stamps. Mine is dated around 1970. Very happy with the purchase it was worth the wait and worth every penny.
Angel B –
When I received the SKS, it was completely full of cosmoline, I mean FULL everywhere. After watching several videos, I spent around 2 to 3 hours I was able to pit it back together. Took it to the range and WOW, this has been one of the best investment ever. Love the accuracy after a couple adjustment and the recoil is not bad at all. I was super impress and amazed on how this old gun still shooting like a champ.
David E –
as always came quick from ukrguns / when i got to my FFL dealer opened box and was blown away realy good wood and all matching numbers got home took the best part of 2 days to degoop it cleaned it 2 times / and man it looks good only thing missing was cleaning kit but can get that on line for cheap enough thank you ukrguns i always have good luck with them thanks

First time I purchased from ukrguns. Great communication from time order was placed until rifle arrived at FFL. Pleased with the rifle I received. Covered with cosmoline, as expected. All numbers match except for the rear dust cover. The one I received has no “trench art” on the stock and stock is in good overall shape. If I had one suggestion to make it would be similar to what others have said on the packaging used during shipment. Mine arrived at FFL with the flimsy cardboard wrapping pretty much destroyed, bubble wrap was intact, so the rifle was protected. Overall pleased with the purchase and will definitely buy from ukrguns again.
Michael A G –
very happy with my sks,all no. matching, stock was in good condition, cleaned up nicely,3 hrs to clean but well worth it,thank you to ukrguns
Daniel G C –
under current price it is not too bad . all numbers match execpect the cover. would be nice to offerd number matching.
Carlos R –
The rifle I received has definitely seen better days, however once I cleaned off all the cosmoline and dirt, the working mechanisms moved flawlessly and the bore was practically immaculate. They are cosmetically rough, but they will perform as the arsenals intended them to. Make sure you have mineral spirits, cotton swabs and rags to clean out your rifle. Do a thorough breakdown and get every last area where cosmoline could be because, chances are, it’s there. Some rifles may have small cracks in the stock, but a quick fix with wood glue or acraglass will handily take care of those. You get what you pay for at this price, they are lightyears away from being showroom examples. These are the kind that you can take out into the elements and get a little dirty with.
Kendrick E –
Just received rifle from FFL. Upon initial inspection, I am very pleased. About 80-90% bluing. Wood is in very good shape considering what these things have potentially been through. From what can be seen from the outside, numbers all match. I’m very happy. I may grab another.
Franklin M –
I was expecting a real battle axe for the price but everything was in decent shape except the stock which was cracked vertically down the center and was pinned back together which it was noted in the description so I was ready for that. It had about 10 lbs of cosmoline in a 9 lb gun still trying to figure that one out but it was oozing out everywhere absolutely no rust anywhere the bore showed very little wear rifling was perfect once cleaned and oiled good took it to the range it shot pretty good group off to the left and high which is going to take a little work on the sights but it ate ammo with no problems no jams a real good war rifle and I mean that in the fact with the heavy wood stock the bayonete and its shoots well to this thing is a tank of a war club.
Charles N –
Great price. A few dings in the stock; probably from storage, but a very nice addition to my collection. Thanks. I would recommend this to anyone.
Marcus T –
Good condition, cosmoline was fun to remove but that was expected, completely tore down, cleaned, assembled and fired without a hitch. Very happy with my purchase!
Ryan E –
Extremely happy with my sks purchase. As with all, came caked in Cosmoline. After getting it cleaned up, bluing was in incredible shape, very little rust, and the stock was easily cleaned up and refinished. Quick shipping. Happy customer.
Luke C –
I ordered 2 of the sks one of them was matching number. But it had a new stock on it that was absolutely garbage. The other sks was not matching numbers. Over all not pleased with what I recieved from ukrguns.
Mario S –
Altogether solid rifle. The barrel was in great shape the rifling looked sharp. After cleaning it all up the only real problem was a bit of pitting on the exterior of the magazine and spring cover in the back. It’s a great shooting rifle that is relatively accurate. Stock was in good condition with no cracks. I would definitely purchase this again. After purchasing some stripper clips I was able to run plenty of rounds through this with no stoppage or failure.
Roy D –
This gun was advertised as used. I just did not think it would be in such bad condition. It cleaned up really nice, bore checked out good, everything is tight. Have not shot it, it looks like an antique.
Robert P –
I ordered and received my SKS from ukrguns and was pleased with the condition of it. I know from previous purchases of this type of firearm that it is luck of the draw as to the condition but in this case I was lucky. The shipping was quick and ukrguns kept me updated. The only negative thing that I can say is with the packaging. The box was very thin cardboard with very thin bubble wrap plastic wrapped around the firearm, everything so thin that the knob on the bolt carrier had poked through the box and the end had some slight rash on it. Other than that, I was very pleased with my purchase.
Christopher S –
Received the rifle today very pleased all numbers matching stock is in excellent condition bluing is 95 percent this rifle shows little use only handling and storing this weapon never saw combat very pleased with purchase will make more purchases from ukrguns
Jacob H –
So bought 2. One was ok just a beat up stock. The other had a bent gas tube and the bolt was in pretty bad shape. However a scoped both barrel and they were in great shape which is all you can hope for in an old Chinese gun like this.. overall worth it. Get them before they are all gone.
Joseph R –
ukrguns was great as always. Firearm all matching numbers, stock is rough and it was a chore to get all of that cosmoline off of that rifle.Happy with the purchase.
Paul S –
Went into this purchase with a full understanding of the potential for deep disappointment. In the end, I am a happy customer because I have a numbers matching, functioning rifle with a stock that has no cracks. The downsides are a heavily worn stock fore end and some heavy pitting on the magazine that is fortunately not quite to the point of perforating the metal. The upsides are that, after working to remove the cosmoline, the action is beautifully smooth and the bore and rifling are quite good. ukrguns shipping was timely and frankly the pricing is about as low as you will find on a functioning SKS these days.
Dennis S –
I received a great looking sks. No cracks in wood stock. After about 2 hours of cleaning cosmoline she cleaned up nice. Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet but I’m happy with my purchase from ukrguns.
James M –
When I first got the rifle, I didn’t know what to expect, because the Cosmoline kind of hides what’s underneath. Once I started getting all that gunk off, I quickly realized I got a good one. All numbers matching (even the gas piston and handguard had handwritten numbers on them that matched the S/N!) No trench art on my stock; quite a bit of surface scratches, but no deep gouges. Wood is a lot darker than the one in the picture. The buttplate is a little corroded, but nothing too crazy and I’m sure it would buff out but it doesn’t bother me enough to try. Bright bore, crisp rifling. Probably about 50% bluing intact. There is some rust on the receiver, but it’s covered by the stock & it doesn’t affect functionality. Shot it today for the first time; 100 rounds, ran flawlessly. Pretty darn accurate for what it is. A tip for getting Cosmoline off: hot water. Works better than any solvent. A hair dryer or heat gun will get the Cosmoline to bubble out of the wood; just don’t set the wood on fire if you do use a heat gun.
James O –
Love this thing. It took awhile to clean but it was well worth it
Braden L –
Great Gun! Was caked in cosmoline and the stock is beat but otherwise a great gun. The metal is clean and bright, the bore is well defined and it shoots well. Awesome rifle if you don’t mind a few hours working to get the cosmoline off!
James T –
Got my sks today and was pleased with the condition. After half a day cleaning cosmoline and disassembled rifle all bluing looks good, the rifling is good, the only issue was I had to get a new stock. The old stock wasn’t cracked or anything just really worn down. I do recommend getting one of these but you will have to take your time and clean it well especially the firing pin assembly mine was stuck and full of grease. Cleaning it properly will prevent slam fire and your gun will operate smoothly.
Aaron G –
The gun was exactly what I expected. All numbers match but the buffer spring cap. The blueing is 85% or so. The rifling is great! The stock is certainly battle worn but very solid. I took my time and removed the cosmoline that was gobbled everywhere. This gun shoots great and cycles awesome I would easily have given it 5 out of 5. If all my numbers matched.
John B –
I ordered the SKS on a Thursday, it was delivered the following Wednesday. As expected it was covered in Cosmoline, the rifle is in good shape, it’s numbers matching complete rifle. There is some slight rust pitting around the magazine and other areas where the wood has been in contact with the metal. Nothing major and nothing to prevent it for firing safely and effectively. It cleaned right up with mineral spirits, dish soap, oil and a bit of elbow grease. Expect about a 4-5 hour turnaround. And don’t forget to strip the bolt and check that the firing pin moves freely! Overall extremely happy with this purchase.
Christopher H –
Not at all a bad purchase. Good customer experience as always with ukrguns. On first inspection, the rifle itself is in very good shape except the stock is heavily marred. Once I get it cleaned up I’ll see if it’s worth trying to salvage or if I should just seek a replacement. Some marks are over 1/8″ deep into the wood. Otherwise, the rifle seems to be in very good condition and came with all accessories it was supposed to (folding spike bayonet and cleaning rod) and was packaged sufficiently to prevent further damage in transport.
Kenneth P –
Ordered this knowing it would be covered in cosmo oil. It was definitely used, and the stock had some pretty cool trench art. Blueing was almost entirely worn off but she shoots great. Definitely going to order another and hope a good one comes again. No breaks in the stock, however not all the pieces are from the same gun.
John F –
Just picked up my SKS today… I cant even tell you how awesome this rifle is… Its old, its covered in cosmoline but its awesome… All numbers matched and the stock wasnt cracked… The blueing is surprisingly about 60% which gives the rifle a great patina…Its full of character and it even had a hidden surprise in the buttstock… The soldier who used this rifle was Albanian and he smoked Gent cigs or cigars… 😂😂😂 I have had an awesome day today stripping the gun down for a good cleaning… Do yourself a favor and get one of these rifles…
Toni W –
Stock and parts stripped down and cleaned of all cosmoline. Shoots straight and is a really little rifle. I would order another one. After sanding the stock of most dings and nicks, I applied deer tallow and the birch wood is really nice. I love it!
Matthew S –
This gun has been through a war….. Almost all the bluing is gone. Rust spots all over and the stock and sling mounts have seen a LOT.
Michael E –
Had to clean this rifle tremendously because of the cosmalene, had a buddy help. The stock was so bad and cracked had to buy a new stock then had the same buddy help chisle it to fit all the parts in the new stock. After all that work took it to the range……. one word awesome! Remember all this is an old rifle but its great to add to your collection, so many customizations you can do to make this rifle yours and modern. I’m from California so believe me this rifle out of the limited rifles were able to own is on the top of the list to get.
Vincent N –
Received pretty much what I expected. Numbers matching except the stock, which was pretty scratched up and contained a few very fresh looking gouges. Metal was in decent shape with minor surface rust on a few parts. Barrel looks perfectly preserved thanks to the heavy coating of cosmoline.
Perry H –
First SKS sent was missing or broken parts, contacted ukrguns excellent customer service, got a return label at FFL. The second SKS sent has matching numbers and is in good shape. 4 stars due to customer service. By the time taxes, and everything were added up I paid 460.00 for the SKS. My advise is wait for a better quality SKS to hit the market or over pay for the current trend SKS surplus.
Richard P –
Recieved my rifle and was extremely surprised by the condition. I’m Very pleased with the rifle and plan on ordering another. The cleaning process was a bit involved but it can be done with a little patience. All together it took me about 3 hours to thoroughly clean it. Grab one of these because they are becoming harder to find and once they are gone , the prices will go yo
Chuck H –
Gun was in good condition. Cleaned up, shot 100 rounds through it no hiccups, very happy with gun.
Michael P –
Overall a positive experience. Don’t know what you got until you get the crud off. Mine was a ’69, numbers matched, definitely used, mechanically sound, not a show piece. There was rust with some pitting but mostly in areas that are covered by the stock and will not affect function. Stock looked like garbage, super dark, beat up, and slimy, but after some sanding, a little espresso stain to even it out and polyurethane, looks sharp. Plenty of you tube videos to watch on disassembly. Too bad there aren’t pictures we can attach. I’d be interested in seeing what everyone got. Good luck to anyone who buys one! Fun project potential.
Michael B –
I debated on buying this rifle for a long time after buying the Carcano and it being a solid rusted barrel, but I thought I try this out. This rifle was in decent shape and I give it a 3 only because it%u2019s not complete as described. I assumed it would be a complete working rifle but sadly I can say it was not. The short piston and spring are missing, the recoil spring has a piece of scrap wire holding it instead of the correct part. Stock is ok, better than expected but is odd in a few ways. The butt plate trap door does not align with either hole and seemed to be a quarter inch long in the front. Barrel is in good shape, has decent bones but all in all have to spend close to $100 more to get pieces to make it functional.
Brandon C –
It’s Chinese, but get them while they last. Even these will get more expensive in the years to come. Stock was in good shape. Came with lots of creosote.
David B –
stocks were worn i expected this. metal was all good. missing cleaning kits in butt of stock but over all best price in years for a quality sks firearm
Robert C –
I received my SKS not knowing how it would look , but i got to say it was 85 percent in beautiful shape, it had little dings , some rust spots but , no crack stock , it was my first break down on a rifle , had alot of fun, wanna order another , very happy and satisfied with this SKS
