Great gun. Easy shooter. I keep mine sighted in at 90 yds iron sights. 70 yds with my eotech holo sight. I’ve got over 1000 rds through it, never a jamb, even with cheap ammo. I group 5″ patterns at 90 yds on a support with iron sights….ALWAYS. Great gun. I grab it over my bushmaster EVERY time, it’s lighter, just as accurate, and I don’t mind bumping it around cuz I don’t have the bank on it like the carbon15. Don’t bother with a $900 gun. You’ll replace this one 4-5 times and be money ahead and own it for longer.

Gun is great really fun to shoot by the whole family…….but..the magazine sucks, after 3 bullets they start to nose dive in the magazine and have trouble loading in the gun, according to many forums it is definitely a magazine problem, the first bullet on a full mag won’t load because of the nose dive issue, but once the first bullet is in. Short review, I was not expecting much knowing it was a Hi-Point. But the price was one I could not pass on. To say the least I am impressed its a solid carbine maybe not pretty but it does what its supposed to do . Due to the current conditions in Ohio ranges are closed. I did run a mag thru it in the back yard to make sure it will at least fire.( notified the neighbors)
I look forward to range time. If your looking for a short carbine in a reasonable price range. You will not be disappointed

With Any Hi Point product you will know your getting a well made gun. The 995 9mm at 6 Pounds is not the lightest carbine available, but it does feel well balanced. I put about 200 rounds of different ammo with only 2 (maybe 3) jams. After carrying it around and getting a good feel for the this carbine I am happy that I purchased it. I pray I never need it for a defense weapon but feel it will take down anything I face, just depends on who shoots first! Hi Point does not get many reviews but I have the C9 and have put it through the mill and it is a very capable weapon. For the money both the 995 and the C9 are well worth it. The Hi-point is not a bad gun to shot for fun, but I will never trust this brand to keep me safe. Multiple times at the range I had FTF with good and bad ammo, and I think that it was because the magazine does not fit tightly like in other carbines. Like I said, I will keep shooting it for fun and to try different brands of ammo but it is not a weapon without flaws. On the upside of things it as very accurate and light and you get what you pay for which wasn’t that much, 275.

First: Everything with ukrguns was fantastic, can’t beat their service and speed. Second: The Carbine is awesome, I bought this as an affordable learning rifle for myself and as a rifle to teach my little bro to shoot. It’s perfect! I’ve put 300+ rounds of Federal 9mm Luger without a hitch. Without any adjustments its right on at 45+’. Also, the spring loaded stock takes what little recoil there is and makes it manageable even for those scared of gun recoil (i.e. my little bro). I’ve also added a compensator from hi-point that helps just right. Absolutely no complaints, great gun, unbelievable price!

Received my 995 quickly from ukrguns and took it to the range yesterday to run about 200 rounds through. What a ball! No malfunctions, shoots great and very accurate. I had been contemplating one of these for about a year now and finally decided to try one. I ordered this on Friday and received it on Wednesday. Great work Bud’s. Now for the fun part. I loaded up the magazine with the cheapest Russian made ammo that I have and I proceeded to shot 100 rounds without a single fail to load or fail to eject. Without a doubt the most fun you can have at he range. A very nice five inch group without a scope at fifty yards. We’ll be spending a little time honing our skills with this and zeroing in on a tighter group. Buy this sweet little carbine.

although i have read good and bad comments on these weapons, i took a chance on it. i have to say that the weakness to these are the magazines. i purchased 3 additional factory magazines with it and none of them would feed correctly. sometime they would feed with no issues and then the next load would double feed and the bolt would lock up. although i realize this is not a firearm id use in the field, i was hoping it would be good enough for home defense, but reliability is i think more important than the caliber. also the inserts in the box it was shipped in stated that use of non-factory aftermarket magazines would void the warranty as it can damage the feed ramp, so unless you are willing to take a chance and render it totally useless even to sell off, you are stuck with shoddy magazines. these firearms are made in the U.S.A. but buyer beware, this may have been something that could have been tweaked out, but when i purchase a new firearm, i expect it to function as designed and this firearm by no stretch of the imagination does as advertised. i unloaded it as fast as i could locate a dealer willing to work with it’s shortcomings. this review is in no way a negative to ukrguns, they are great to work with, and i understand that they need to have weapons with lower price points for those who are on a budget, but my advice is, save up and go quality, you really get what you pay for and this is a case of my trying to cheap out and it bit me.

ukrguns is great as always!! Got this gun 2/2/17 went & shot 2 days later at local firing range & absolutely love shooting this gun!! Bought 2 of the extended 20 rd mags from Redball & didn’t have 1 FTE or FTF after shooting 300 rds. (all different types) The only thing I will change is the sights, I will get a red dot of some sort (the iron sights were on point don’t get me wrong) just easier with the red dot.

I was not completely sure about this carbine purchase, being Hi Point the manufacturer. But I have to admit that I am totally impress with the quality of this rifle. Tested yesterday and I do not have one bad thing to say other than I really wish that Hi Point had come out with a larger magazine capacity. Great shooting experience and a lot of fun. I recommended. Very smooth trigger and reliable firing operation. So far I’ve put about 200rds through it without issues. Minimal recoil which makes grouping shots with this carbine quite easy. Its quickly becoming a favorite of the bunch.
While it’s usually a preference, I would advise getting an upgraded charge bolt and more ergonomic charging handle (about 20 bucks). The factory ones could feel a little clunky to some but was still fully functional.

I let a neighbor of mine store a couple of his guns in one of my gun safes. One of them was a Hi Point like this one and I ended up using it as a prop in a photo shoot. A photographer friend of mine was reviewing the photos and he said, “Hey I like that little rifle.” So I decided to surprise him and buy one for his birthday, not knowing anything about it, other than the price. So when it arrived, of course I was going to have to try it out. I live out in the country and have my own shooting range so in a matter of minutes I had magazines loaded and hearing protection on. The first thing I noticed was how accurate it was. Even with open sights that gun was shooting groups tighter than it was supposed to. Next, I put one of my early generation night vision scopes on it and went out hog hunting that night and dropped a nice sow. The next morning I had to call my friend and tell him that he was going to have to wait until I ordered another one before he can call it his.

After reading several reviews i decided to order the 995TSFG and give it a try…. all i can say is WOW this thing is GREAT value for money!! Ive probably shot around 500 rounds thru it so far without cleaning and had not one single problem!! This thing is so much fun to shoot i take it with me every time i go to the range and it always seems to attract attention, everyone wants to shoot it. Ive found it to be SUPER accurate, i can shoot the center out of a target with ease, i did replace the iron sights with the red dot from the hi point web site and i like it a lot better even though it took me a while to get it dialed in properly. I also ordered the OEM 2 magazine and stock holder upgrade for it so i wouldn’t have to re load as much. If you are on the fence about this thing i would say go for it!! I have absolutely no regrets about buying this fire arm, a lot of people get hung up on the “Hi point” name but let me tell you this thing has been nothing but reliable,accurate and most of all FUN to shoot. By far the best $300 I’ve ever spent on a fire arm.

Pros: cheap ammo, out of the box awesome accurate iron sites, lifetime warranty,included forward grip has a compartment for the take down tool, zero recoil, can hammer tent spikes with it if you want to, cheap aftermarket accessories,hi point forum online to answer questions and check out how others have moded there guns Cons: pictinney rails are plastic and you have to remove the iron sit if you want to mount an optic (top rail is short), 15 rd mags are the most u can get. Buy this gun and you’ll have a blast

I no longer have this firearm, but I had no issues at all with it. I did have issues with aftermarket mags, but I blame the mags, as the stockers worked just fine. I found it no longer suited what I was looking for, through no fault of it’s own. The only ‘knock’ I would give it is weight. I am of smaller stature, so that may mean nothing to others.

Came to me flawless, no damage with one magazine. I got the model with the fore grip (S model). I mounted a Red Dot sight. I have fired about 400 rounds through it so far. The barrel gets pretty dirty, at least with the ammo I was using (several manufacturers) so be sure to run patches through the barrel after each shooting session. The Rifle itself does not have to be broken down but about 1500 – 3000 rounds. I was expecting that I would have problems to chamber the first round (based on other comments) and sure enough the first round frequently failed to load (strip) about 50% of the time. After loading it would fire and chamber the next round without fail. I did after trying a few techniques that the following did seem to nearly eliminate the load failures. As I draw the bolt back with my left hand, I slide my index and middle finger on my right hand down and under the magazine to press up a bit. As the bolt is going back I could feel the magazine move slightly up as the bolt cleared. Maintaining pressure and releasing the bolt the round would then chamber as it should. A small thing to do and I quickly developed a habit of doing that and it didn’t slow me down. Most every gun has it’s share of quirks so this is just one of them. No big deal. Rifle is easy to handle. Recoil is mild – hardly really need the spring butt pad. Accuracy – 100 yards or less, easy to get hits. It is a pistol caliber carbine, after all. Do not get the non Hi Point extended mag – YouTube has a *ton* of videos showing problems – and it will void your warranty. Hopefully Hi Point will come out with a 30 round mag some day. Di-assembly instructions are not very good. There are several very nice step-by-step videos on-line. Don’t discard the Hi Point tool!!! You will need that to disassemble. Di-assembly is not all that difficult (with a video). Over-all, I’m glad I got it, it’s pretty fun to shoot, and I would not have a problem recommending the rifle. As expected, the process with ukrguns was painless.

Ran a box of 100 WWB 9mm ammo through her with no issues at all. Bought the Pro-mag 15 round magazine and had no problems at all. Wish they made a larger magazine but for plinking and such this gun is right on the money. Looks good with the Tactical Stock and fore grip, too.
