This is going to be on of my favorite guns to shoot very accurate you won’t be sorry if you purchase this gun.
Mike H –
Absolutely love this rifle! 10/10 I bought it to have another fun plinking gun and let you tell you I hit the jackpot for the price of this one! I was drilling tac’s at 50 and 100yrds. Great gun and the threaded barrel is a great addition!
Alec P –
Great purchase, I’m really happy with the rifle and ukrguns delivered to my FFL very quickly. Great experience all around.
Dylan M –
This thing is amazing! Extremely accurate even with a cheap Simmons scope from Walmart. It’s tons of fun to plink with and customize. I put a scope and bipod on mine and painted it. Probably my favorite .22 in my collection now!
Daniel H –
My Savage MKII .22 low budget rifle with a beefy barrel and a hair trigger now has a Boyd%u2019s Varmint Laminated Pepper Color Stock, Leupold mid riser rings and a BSA 3X9X40 scope. To carry the rifle it%u2018s sporting a Browning 550 Paracord Sling color matched to the Boyd%u2019s stock. I got a tad over 5 bills total into the build and it might be my favorite rifle next to a few of my Henry Golden Boy and Silver Boy rifles I own. Buds pricing is very competitive and shipping was quick. I would like to see a faster process on their cash option Internet pay, I think 5 days to clear is slower than me mailing a letter to them through snail mail. For gun collectors like myself we are anxious to get a start on the build.
Harold R –
Unbelievably accurate! This rifle is everything I could ever ask for in an accurate .22 rimfire rifle. I love shooting suppressed and this is the perfect platform to accurately plink all day.
John O –
Bought for the action and the barrel to build a target gun. This thing is a tack driver at 100 yards with the right ammo. Great affordable buy.
Lyndell D –
I’ve had this rifle for a couple of years now. I got a great price here (just under $200) and had high hopes for it. However, it does have some major issues.
First, the comb on the stock is really low. You will need an aftermarket cheek riser (I got mine off Amazon for $16) to have any chance of a cheek weld. Another option is to buy a Boyd’s stock, great stocks, but they’re more than I paid for the rifle. Basically more than doubling the price of the rifle. For that kind of money you have better options.
Second, crappy magazines. I got close to a hundred rounds through mine before they started shooting out the top of the magazine. Do an internet search on them, they’re infamously bad. If you get one of these, go ahead and stock up on extra magazines.
Third, this may only apply to mine and only shooting suppressed. But shooting suppressed, I have to run a toothbrush over the bolt face after every magazine or two, otherwise it will not extract a single round.
Fourth, last and not really a big deal until you factor in the second and third issues mentioned above and again maybe it’s only an issue with mine. But after almost 100 rounds I’m still shooting a 2″ group at fifty yards. Maybe it’ll take 2-300 rounds for me to get the accuracy everyone claims these rifles get and I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay with is needing to replace several magazines just to get it there and needing to clean the bolt face every few rounds when shooting suppressed.
Gregory W –
So ive owned this gun for about a year now. It has more than exceed my expectations. The bolt and trigger are smooth. Its an absolute tack driver.
Ricardo R –
Comfortable, easy to shoot rifle. Value priced and very accurate. There are plenty of upgrades available is desired. Cleaning was a breeze compared to other rifles. Highly recommend
Zachary J –
Pretty disappointed. After getting home and being able to look the rifle over in decent light instead of in the ffl%u2019s dim store lighting, I noticed small gouges at the end of the barrel. Not what I expect with a brand new firearm. Learned my lesson.
Toulong V –
This rifle is great. Light and compact. Lots of fun shooting this rifle.
Greg A –
This gun will work just fine for the price. It’s not an expensive gun and it definitely doesn’t come feeling or looking like one out of the package. No detail work has been put into the gun. The parts have just been made and assembled. The barrel comes with a rough/matte texture; and, to me, the stock felt like ridiculously cheap plastic that you would find on a kid’s toy. Not that the material wasn’t strong and durable, but because the finish was straight out of a mold with a slick plastic feel and the mold lines protruding where the two halves joined. I took the stock off to lower the trigger pull (FYI, it was already in the lowest setting from the factory). When I did, I decided I wanted to work on the stock (not knowing how it would turn out, but owning it, either way). I took a sanding block to it and sanded the entire outside surface of it. It made a HUGE difference to me. Now it feels silky smooth and velvety instead of slick. Removing the glossy finish did lighten it up just a touch (in between a black and stealth grey). After that, I accepted the barrel finish as going with the whole “tactical” motif. Plus, it seems to match the new matte finish of my stock after working on it. The trigger is nice. The bolt came stiff and grabby, but seems to be improving with a little lube and cycling. I like the scope rail. I put a cheap 50mm objective lens on it (one inch tube) with low rings and it fits perfectly to the gun with about 1-2mm clearance from the barrel. I’ve only bore sighted it at this point, but other reviews seem to indicate it shoots well. It will make a nice gun for our annual mistletoe hunt. The bolt action is generally safer with kids using it and it will be quieter for everyone when my tax stamp approval FINALLY arrives for my suppressor.
Rexford S –
Great little gun! I would highly recommend!
Anthony C –
So far so good. I%u2019m very pleased with it. Haven%u2019t hit 100 rounds yet. I%u2019ll update my post if I run into any issues.
John A –
Love this .22. Shoots great, very accurate. Thanks
Max M –
I got a lemon. Horrible Failure to extract issues after only 20 rounds. Now its about every third round remains in the chamber.
Joseph Y –
Excellent rifle!!!! No issues. It operates perfectly. This is my first transaction with ukrguns and I have absolutely no complaints!!!!!
Stan C –
This rifle is well made and accurate. Love the accutrigger as well!!
Philip S –
ukrguns Shop is the best! Quick shipping, and my ffl transfer went through without a hitch. +10!
Justin S –
Great little bolt action rifle. It’s size makes it comfortable for adults or supervised kids to use. Weight is a bit forward which i prefer on elevated or flat shots but over all decently balanced. The magazine and release are less than robust but are holding up so far +/- 400 rds. I would absolutely prefer a magazine larger than 5rds but it’s a budget 22lr. For the price you’ll likely be surprised and may become your favorite squirrel rifle.
Benjamin W –
The rifle is very accurate, great for young shooters. I%u2019m 24 and bought it for myself, its uncomfortably small for a grown man but that is to be expected. The mag is a piece of junk though, I%u2019m already on my 3rd mag and I only have 100rds of supersonic and approximately 250 rounds of subsonic through this gun and the mags will not hold ammo anymore, it just spits the rounds back out. and if I manage to get the mag in the rifle before it spits the rounds out it double feeds%u2026 but it%u2019ll be a great learning rifle just stock up on mags because they wear out very quickly. ukrguns gun shop as always gets 5/5 stars. But not this rifle due to mag issues
Steve C –
An absolute tack driver. Extremely accurate, quality rifle at a fantastic price.
Mark C –
The most accurate 22LR I have ever owned! A 22 Sniper Rifle! On a good day I can put 5 shots into a hole at fifty yards you can cover with a dime! I have a Discovery 4-16x scope mounted on it. I have a riser on the back because the stock is not high enough to see a scope through. It has a Great trigger on it! I just picked up some 20rd magazines for it!!!!! I would recommend this gun to anyone that wants a super accurate 22 for hunting or target shooting!
Phillip Neal J –
Got this for my son. he loves it. everybody loves a good semi but there is something about working the bolt that you can’t replace. Great shooter and with the threaded barrel ready for suppressor
Jerry W –
This is a great .22 bolt action rifle. It seems very accurate. The stock is a little small I wish there were better options for stock replacement- really only one choice , so I have not done it yet. The action is a little rough , but the large bolt knob makes it easier to deal with. I don%u2019t have enough rounds through it yet to tell how much better it might break in
Ben M –
This is hands down the most accurate 22 for the money and is also an excellent suppressor host. I changed the stock to a Boyd’s since it left a little to be desired. Other than that, I highly recommend this gun. With CCI Mini-Mag it shoots the lights out. If you buy it, don’t forget to buy a few extended magazines for it as well.
Gerald R –
Found this item to be exactly as described. Delivered promptly. Put a scope on it and had it zeroed at 70 yds with about 8 rounds. Love the adjustable trigger. This rifle is accurate.
Christopher R –
Works great just what I needed
Benjamin C –
i am using this gun to replace a standard MKII that was not threaded for a suppressor that I had, traded it off for a youth gun for my son.
Pro’s:
Lightweight
accurate (1MOA gun with eley’s 38 grain subsonic ammo at 25 and 50 yards) using an inexpensive Cabela’s 22lr specific scope.
Barrel threading makes for very easy suppressor attatchment, and the thread protector is heavy and well made.
Trigger did not need adjusting out of the box
Oversized bolt knob a nice standard upgrade.
Bolt is nice and snug, no extra play
Cons
hex screws holding the top rail on stripped out at under 15-17 in/lbs torque, will be a pain if i ever have to remove them and replace them.
Magazine – flimsy construction, easily starts to come apart, causing feeding errors. Squeezed it back together and it still works, but i dont trust it
bolt is parkerized, makes for a gritty feeling even after the initial cleaing and reoiling, hopefully will smooth out as the parkerizing gets worn off/smoothed out
I like having backup irons, and this gun unfortunately does not come installed with them.
Would i recommend if you wanted one right out of the box to shoot no…you must have an optic installed and sighted in to really use it. Also the same for hunting squirrel etc etc. No because of the lack of iron sights for if your optic fails.
Bench rest shooting and fun at the range…definitely.
Stanley P –
bought as a gift-not used yet
Russell T –
As far as bang for the buck is concerned, this rifle certainly delivers! You’d expect something with a fluted/threaded bull barrel, adjustable trigger, and picatinny scope mount to cost hundreds more. The weight is just right, as is the balance, and the oversize bolt handle makes for easy working of the action. Great as a beginner’s gun, or for small game hunting, it has something for everyone.
Richard W –
Very nice rifle for the price. ukrguns was quick to ship.
Daniel P –
I like this 22 rifel. Well made and accurate even with a 18 dollar scope. Absolutely No kick back.
Zack Z –
This is a great 22. The accuracy is superb.
Patrick F –
Very accurate and feeds subsonic from the magazine. Can’t beat it for the price.
Paul S –
Just got back from the range. It was the second time this week I had this gun out. I absolutely love it. I am amazed at how well a very reasonably priced 22 can shoot even at 100yds on a windy day. It is by far the best bang for the buck of all my gun purchases. The trigger is awesome. Definitely will be sub 1 MOA with good ammo.
Andrew D –
Great rifle, great price. Couldnt be happier.
Donald F –
This is an excellent rifle for the price it is at, great for young and experienced shooters alike. A good cheap gun to beat around that has great potential in modifications. You won%u2019t regret buying this.
Daniel P –
I’ve owned this budget rifle for a few weeks now and have been to the outdoor range twice with it. I found 1,650 rounds of bulk Federal a few months ago so this little Savage is a good way to use it up. It extends my range time and forces me to slow down. The trigger is very nice and I have not tried adjusting it yet. It feels fine right out of the box. The rifle did have minor surface rust but no pitting. I oiled it good and wiped it down. The rag was rust brown. The serial number is still rusty. I have no idea how old this rifle is but it is accurate. I’m shooting 1″ groups at 30 yards with a cheap Tasco scope with this old bulk ammo. My eyes are 65 years old so there are no complaints with accuracy. I thought about upgrading the stock but I will keep it as is. It will be used mostly on a bench at the range. I bought a box of Norma TAC-22 today at Academy Sports so I’m curious how this target ammo will group. I’m very happy with my purchase and it’s very accurate for the price. The rust is my only negative.
Thomas V R –
Another awesome purchase from ukrguns I love the Savage brand .To be honest I have never shot this rifle I might be saving it for my grandson he has shot .22s in Boy Scouts and seems to like it,time will tell
Ross P –
Fun setup but if you don%u2019t take care of it, it will rust quick
Ricardo R –
Right out of the box it was making keyholes and combined with
40 gr. Hunter matched .22. ,,, I was very pleased , it was suggested by a coworker and it is who also had great results
Anybody that’s looking for a nice little inexpensive toy, I would suggest this one ,, its a 5 shot small mag. ,,
but all you need is 1 good shot
Kevin R –
ukrguns is awesome. Ordered the gun on a Monday, had it in my hands on Wednesday. The gun is a replacement for a 10-22 that I had nothing but trouble with. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of a budget rifle. The bolt was a little stiff at first but smoothed out quickly. The trigger is adjusable but mine is just right. Almost no creep or overtravel and breaks cleanly. I put a suppressor and a Vortex scope on. With the heavy barrel I was on paper right away at 50 yards and had it punching bullseyes at 100 in short order. I was using standard velocity CCI ammo. No FTF’s or FTE’s at all. I’m very happy with the rifle and ukrguns customer service.
James S –
ukrguns has all your gun and ammo needs! Savage MkII FV-SR .22LR with threaded barrel ! Best price on the web! Timely and affordable shipping ! Customer service is great ! Thank you team ukrguns
Whitney M –
ukrguns always has the best prices AND availability. This gun has worked flawlessly, was shipped fast, and in perfect condition.
Richard D –
Bought this rifle with intentions of using it as a lightweight suppressable squirrel hunting rifle. Imagine my disappointment when I finally get my .22 suppressor out of nfa jail & it won’t thread on the barrel… threads just fine on all my higher dollar .22 rifles. All I can say is BUYER BEWARE.. especially if you had plans on running a suppressor.
Matthew C –
This is hands down the best .22 bolt action rifle under $800.
Shawn M –
Good looking gun! Seems well made. Fast shipping like always from ukrguns!
Daniel C –
I am not very happy with this purchase. The bolt does not remove the spent cartridge very well. I have to remove every other shot by hand. In addition, the 5 shot magazine that came with the rifle often flings the 5 bullets into the chamber at the same time. I bought a new magazine which solved that problem, but I still have to remove 1/2 of my shots by hand which is a real pain in the butt.
Greg B –
Excellent Value!! Bought this Savage MKII for the 16 threaded barrel. Paired with a Dakota Tango suppressor, barrel length is just over 20″ and a very nice package. It took maybe 50 rounds to “break in” the bolt to smooth it out a little. Feeds, extracts, and ejects very well. The 2 parts I really like is the very good Accu-Trigger and how well it shoots. With CCI Std. Velocity or Ely Action ammo 5 shot groups are in the 1/2″ range at 40 yds. Easily hitting pieces of broken clay pigeons at 100 yd (after allowing for drop). Great fun gun and when suppressed, waaaaaay too fun!!
Michael L –
Great first gun for my son… he loves shooting.. only drawback is the 5 round mag… however they have a 10 round mag you can get … so just need to pick a couple of those up for him and he will be good to go.. great little nail driver and fun shooting gun.. Nice bolt action and really smooth.. give him time to really practice and get his shooting down and safely comfortable handling a gun.
William H –
I love this rifle! I don’t think that there is anything out there as good for the money. I put my Silercerco Sparrow on it and it is quieter than a pellet rifle.
Stephen R –
Love this bolt action .22LR. Just got mine from Bud’s about a week ago. Accurate, smooth, nicely built for the cost. Right out of the gate I was getting impressive accuracy. I put a Vortex Venom red dot on the rail for a light weight/handy woods gun; couldn’t be happier. This is the most inexpensive gun I own, and possibly the most enjoyable. At TWICE the cost I’d buy it again. I have 3 Match grade .22 pistols, and a custom 10/22. What are you waiting for?
Michelle B –
Super little rifle for the money! This rifle is an excellent and consistent test bed for different ammo and scope comparisons as well as threaded accessories. Very basic no frills bolt gun. The stock is plastic but functional and the rifle itself is consistent and reliable. I would definitely recommend this as a trainer or test bed rifle. I would buy again. As always, ukrguns pricing and service was outstanding.
Scott F –
Bought this for my sons first rifle on Christmas. Outfitted with a Simmons 3-9×40 scope and we were drilling 1 inch groupings in no time. Started at 50 yds to get zeroed in then moved back to 100 yds and was still getting good groupings. I think a made a good purchase with this gun as far as function trigger and price goes.
Brian W –
Very nice Rifle. Difficulty getting bolt to go in, difficult by the instructions which were suboptimal. Can’t wait to get a suppressor for it accurate. ukrguns was excellent as usual.
Chuck H –
Good value – a good product at a good price. It shoots well and gives tight groups with very low recoil. The heavy barrel helps to improve the accuracy and the felt recoil. Having a threaded barrel is also a plus for those of us with a suppressor to put on it. With the price of ammo these days this 22LR can pay for itself in 500 rounds of fun at the range.
Mark L –
Super accurate, short, lite weight. Great buy for the money. Awesome with supressor!
Dwight C –
Nice rifle ! Mounted a Simmons 22 scope and got 1/2″ groups at 25yds first time out with CCI and Winchester ammo. Great value. Nice features like threaded fluted barrel and oversize bolt handle- can’t go wrong with this one. Only downside was factory 5 round mag, it separates from its mounting points when loaded and the shells won’t stay in. I had purchased another factory 10 round that worked fine. From internet searches this seems to be an ongoing problem with their 5 round mags.
Randall R –
Great rifle, very accurate. Well made. Highly recommend. No issues and very happy with this rifle.
Jeff T –
I had been looking at this particular model for a long time before I purchased it. So far it has lived up to the hype. The only concern I had initially was when I removed the barrel thread protector I couldn’t get it back on. It seemed like the threads were rough and wanted to cross thread. But my silencerco sparrow went on with no problem.
John S –
Love the rifle, great little tac driver. Just wish the stock was sturdier. But over all geat start to a PR trainer.
Joseph F –
Good little target 22 can’t beat the features for the money!!
Charles P –
Nice little weapon just waiting on my suppressor for a real test
Paul S –
Once my funds were deposited in ukrguns account the gun was shipped to the Florida FFL I selected. When I opened the box to inspect the gun there was a small indentation/blemish on the top of the barrel. I intended to attach a copy (photo) of the indentation/blemish to this review, but the format does not allow me to. It is now covered by the Vortex Scope I put on the gun. The gun shoots as advertised and It’s now been sighted in at 50 yards.
Randy D –
This is a great 22 lr bolt action.
Dustin W –
This Gun is bad ass and it%u2019s extremely accurate. Shooting a 1 ft grouping at 200 yards with the exception of the occasional flier. Five stars would recommend. ukrguns is the bomb with great prices and fast shipping to the ffl.
Jeff R –
Very pleasantly surprised with the accuracy of this rifle. It’s also very compact and light, even with a scope mounted. The two negatives, in my opinion, are the stock’s comb height, and the flimsy magazines. You definitely need a pad of some sort on the stock to get proper cheek weld. All in all, I think it’s a great deal at around $200. I don’t think you can find another 22 with this accuracy, threaded and fluted barrel, picatinny rail and adjustable trigger in this price range.
Matthew G –
Smooth shooter farts smell in high winds.
Cory Z –
I love this little work horse. So accurate. Definitely plan to switch out your stock though. It’s not built properly for the scope mount, eye relief is off. Boyd’s make a variety of awesome ones for a reasonable price. I love the over sized bolt handle. Easy to manipulate the bolt. Trigger is crisp, adjustable. Fun to shoot, affordable for all day shooting. Get one, you’ll love this thing. Oh yeah! Threaded heavy barrel!!
John C –
Very accurate rifle but being my first savage rifle the action is very rough.
William M –
Very nice rifle for the money, would and have recommended this rifle to friends and family.
Shaun S –
Great gun – love the threaded barrel.
Christian H –
Shoots well, trigger is nice. Stock is on the small side – height of 1913 rail with existing comb height makes it difficult to get proper cheek weld. Could use either some sort of riser or replace stock. Overall pretty darn good for the price.
Robert S –
Great service from ukrguns. The rifle itself after 50 rounds would not eject the spent
casing. Contacting the MFG currently
John C –
This is a very accurate and awesome rifle. I adjusted the trigger to the lightest pull, however, it’s not as sensitive as I like. But it’s very crisp and I can get 5/8 inch groups at 25 yards consistently. I like the synthetic stock, but the comb is not high enough to rest my cheek on, however, I can hold steady with my chin. It would be easy to install an adjustable cheek rest which are available for less than $40. I really enjoy shooting this rifle.
Robert M –
I recently built a Form 1 suppressor and wanted to keep it on the same 22lr at all times so I purchased a Mark ii for that purpose (3/3/20). I’m not sure I can go back and edit this bad review if the rifle gets fixed but as of now it is unusable. I’ve had it for about two weeks and I get a failure to extract malfunction about every 4th round. I’m shooting CCI SV (subsonic) ammo. I reported the problem to Savage via tech support email the first day I had the rifle but they never responded. After two weeks (3/19/20) I called their tech support number and they are sending out a new extractor (7 to 10 business days). After searching on the internet I have found that both the FTE malfunctions and poor email tech support are a common thread. Phone tech support seems to be a good way to handle it. Common fixes for the FTE is to tighten the spring on the bolt and to polish the extractor. Neither has helped me. The bolt is also very stiff so I did some very light polishing on that but it is no where near smooth. I understand this is a budget rifle and will probably require more work to make the bolt action nice but the FTE is a different story. Again, I am not sure I can edit this review when I get the new parts in to reflect if the problem gets resolved but for now I cannot leave a good review for the rifle.
I’m 53 and have been shooting my whole life. I currently own around 40 firearms. I have not ordered many weapons from ukrguns and believe this is probably my first review.
