I finally had a chance to shoot my ptr 91 G.I. I put new 3 chamber muzzle brake, m-lock handguard, budget 4.5×16 scope, bipod and an m4 style stock. All the junk makes it heavy but the recoil was pretty low, the rifle worked flawless and it was very accurate and I’m sure more accurate than me and my budget scope. I was getting 1.5-3.5in groups at 100yds. Great rifle, the only thing that I didn’t like was that the whole trigger group was loose by around .050 so I had to make a thin piece of metal to take up space now it’s all tight and I’m very happy with the purchase and dealing with ukrguns.

This was a great deal Even though I replaced all the furniture with HK91 furniture it all fit perfectly and flawlessly couldn’t beat the price!!!!

Havn’t had a chance to fire this baby yet. ukrguns was hassle free and quick with the delivery. I’ll update later after I break her in.

The gun arrived quickly and in great shape. Everything but the surplus stocks was in perfect condition, with only the buttstock recoil pad showing much wear. The PTR has been a great shooter so far; I haven’t noted any of the trouble with the stiff action noted in other reviews, so that might vary from gun to gun. I had 3 malfunctions in the first 40 rounds using TulAmmo: 2 FTEs and one double feed. Since switching to Wolf ammo, the gun has run without any issues. Excellent firearm, and great experience ordering through ukrguns.

This gun was made by people who care about making a good gun. All the PTR parts appear to be of very high quality. The original German Army buttstock that my rifle came with has a small crack in it. I have a little less than 100 rounds through it. No failures of any kind. All the magazines I run with it are surplus G/VG 1960’s vintage HK or Portugese mafs I paid like $4.99 each for. Once I figured out how to work the rear sight, it zeroed nicely. Great gun, do recommend.

Outstanding rifle! No problems within the 100 rounds I have run through it.

The gun is very well packaged from the company. It comes with 1 aluminum magazine and an owners manual. The finish on the gun is a gray parkerized finish with green plastic furniture. The handguard, buttstock, and pistol grip are all used parts with scratches and dings in them. I have an unused, unissued black G-3 stock from about 20 years ago which I’ll probably replace the green stock with. The stock set is actually the only negative part of the gun. I wasn’t sure what PTR uses on these guns. The handguard is a little loose fitting. I used to own a Century Arms G-3 rebuilt by them and this PTR 91 is much, much better in quality. I couldn’t even easily remove the buttstock assembly on the Century Arms gun but the buttstock assembly on the PTR is easily removed. After shooting the gun I was able to easily break it down in its major components to clean it. I love the fact that on this gun you only really need to clean the bore and bolt as it doesn’t have a gas system. My model had a rail mount so I installed a scope on it. I am having some trouble sighting in the scope but it’s mounted high above the barrel to clear the rear sight. A shorter scope with lower mounts would have helped. So far I’ve only tried Russian Wolf steel cased ammo as I didn’t want to search for the empty shells in the snow. The gun shot and fed flawlessly. I didn’t experience any jams with the FMJ ammo. I haven’t tried other types of ammo or other types of bullets yet. Having the charging handle located in a tube at the upper left front part of the gun needs a little bit of getting used to. It’s not as easy to manipulate as a charging handle on an AR or FAL or others that are around the receiver. As with an AR or FAL the charging handle isn’t attached to the bolt/bolt carrier. A long scope could interfere with the charging handle. I don’t know the muzzle brake diameter of original HK-91’s or G-3’s so I don’t know if an original muzzle cap or bayonet could fit on it. It’s not really important but the charging handle tube end does have a removable cap on it. I haven’t shot the gun using the sights that are on it but the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. The elevation is in 100 meter increments. 100 meters being the shortest setting. I can’t write about the gun’s accuracy as I was trying to set the scope at 100 yards instead of 50 yards. Wolf ammo isn’t too accurate either. I need to finish setting the scope before I have an idea of the gun’s accuracy.

ukrguns was very fast on getting the rifle to me so I give them 5 stars. The rifle on the other hand im giving 3 because the one i recieved looks nothing like the picture shown. My stock, butpad, grip and handguard are all a different color. The magazine is in very poor condition and has rust, and the rifle comes in a cardboard box. Definitely not what I expected out of a rifle that is just shy of $1000.

Fantastic quality rifle, especially for the money. I have about 200 rounds of el cheepo wolf through it so far and it’s been 100% reliable. The fit and finish is fantastic, trust me. Don’t buy the c308, save up the extra 400 bucks and get a ptr, you will not be disappointed. Rifle came perfectly zeroed from the factory

Rugged and reliable, the only downside is the destruction of spent brass and a very heavy and creepy trigger. No regrets though, if you own one of these you are well armed.
Roy M –
Beautiful rifle, shoots with very little recoil considering the caliber size, very accurate right out of the box.

Great .308 battle rifle! Honestly the AR craze is out of control and everyone at every range has one. If you wanna be a little different and feel like you can avoid an AR10. BUY A PTR! Shoots brass, steel and throws those casing a half mile lol. Great accuracy at around 2 MOA with surplus .308. Great rifle all around.

My PTR91 is a five star weapon. Perfect in every respect. Thanks!!

A heartbreak of failure and disappointment. I have wanted one these for a decade after getting to use a Sweede g3 while in the army. This gun was nothing like that. The finish was poor and there was rust on the shelf by the paddle release the day I picked it up. The action was brutally tight and often took two hands to cycle the bolt. The buffer fell apart in the buttstock while dry firing. Completed the break in process as described in the manual and it never once completed a 20 round magazine without a malfunction, usually a short stroke, occasionally an over ride or stovepipe. From federal commercial to Wolf to Winchester to Norma with bullet weights from 147 grain to 180 it never once ran properly. I have attempted to contact PTR industries. But have yet to hear a reply. I was a fool for this rifle, now I am just a fool.

Took the gun to the range to break it in . Worked perfectly not one issue , used factory Remington and Israeli bulk ammo . Even had good groups while breaking in. Very well built would highly recommend for anyone looking for 308 semi-auto.

This is a great fun in the mold of the old HK3. It is a smooth firing gun that has cycled through every type of ammo that I have put through it. An all around great battle rifle that I must admit that I like a whole lot more than my A-10. The PTR 91 is a great, reliable gun that will not disappoint!

I’d been wanting a PTR 91 since 2015 when I saw one hanging on the wall of a gun shop in southern Louisiana. Finally got around to pulling the trigger on getting one and couldn’t find one anywhere, so I decided to check in on ukrguns. Found it! Ordered it! Got it! Boy am I glad I did. Took it out to the range today to break it in and it was amazing. What I got here is my new favorite rifle, besides all the others, of course. Very accurate right out the box, tight groups, functioned flawlessly. The only thing I don’t like is the clunky trigger, but that can be overcome. Shot PMC Gold .308 like it was going out of style.

The good… Functions flawlessly. No failure of any kind with multiple magazines, brass and steel case ammo. The bad… While the grip and stock are new/like new, the handguard is definitely surplus condition. I ordered a couple surplus replacements(super cheap!) and was able to find an excellent condition handguard. The rear sight drum is also either surplus or slightly damaged. It is dinged up on the top but nothing that causes functional issues(also a cheap replacement). Packed very well so this was not shipping damage of any kind. The ugly!!! The rail on top is not centered! It is slightly canted to the left, I’m assuming this is not intentional. I have no intentions of using the rail so no big deal for me. Without mounting an optic I can’t tell if it is still aligned with the barrel. If it is it would simply put the scope slightly to the left. Overall a great shooting rifle, just has a couple flaws. I’m still happy with it, though. Thanks again ukrguns!!

Stop looking. Buy it! You will not be disappointed.

It took longer than usual for ukrguns to ship this item out. I don’t know why; I was not sent any updates on the shipping status. While the firearm is in good working order, it needs to be completely disassembled and cleaned, including the magazine. The charging action is very stiff and the charging handle is very hard to unfold to release it. The firearm itself is in good condition for its age.

The PTR 91 Gi R is a great copy of the HK G3. After years looking at similar versions of clone G3 rifles the PTR is hard to beat. There are so many interchangeable HK parts as well as aftermarket solutions. It’s a time tested very reliable design built in America. It fires the mighty .308 Winchester that’s popular in hunting so ammo is usually available. I highly recommend this PTR 91 Gi R rifle.

I was considering an AR10 but went with the PTR91 because it’s a classic and everyone else has AR’s! No malfunctions so far. Throws cases 20 feet forward and to the right, so if you’re shooting at an indoor range you won’t get your brass back. The kick is not as bad as I expected — no worse than my Remington 308. The rifle’s weight probably provides some helpful inertia. I ordered the PTR in the morning and ukrguns got it out the door that afternoon. Great service!

Excellent rifle for the price. Fit and finish has a real mil-surp G3 feel, but is obviously brand new. Welded picatinny rail is a nice bonus, saves buying an aftermarket optic mount and is as low to bore axis as you can get on this rifle.
All the fun of an Hk91 for 1/3 of the price of a used Hk.. and this is NIB

The transaction through ukrguns was seamless. Excellent customer service. Have not had a chance to take this rifle to the range yet. It appears to be well made. No obvious blemishes or imperfections.

Awesome service from ukrguns. Great gun in every way.

Excellent rifle. Only complaint is that it came with used mil surp furniture.

Reliable battle rifle that is a blast to shoot. Eats up everything I feed it (even Tulammo) without a hiccup.
